| LOUDQUIETLOUD: A FILM ABOUT THE PIXIES |

| A loving portrait of the rock band, by fans and for fans. The
documentary filmmakers Steven Cantor and Matthew Galkin follow the four
members of the Pixies—the front man, Charles Thompson (a.k.a. Black
Francis), the bassist and vocalist, Kim Deal, the guitarist, Joey
Santiago, and the drummer, David Lovering—on their unexpected reunion
tour in 2004, twelve years after their unceremonious breakup. The
intimate road footage in this well-made film highlights how the members
of one of the most beloved underground rock bands of the early nineties
can barely hold a conversation with each other, even on a lonely tour,
and reveals how each of them has—or has not—grown up.—S.L. (Cinema Village.) |
